How to edit the “Days After Checkout” for Invalid Shipping Dates with Split Shipping Enabled

In the shipping schedule, the “Days after checkout” option calculates the shipping date based on the date the customer places the order.

Once the customer places the order, Dibs automatically calculates the shipping date based on:

  • The actual order date
  • The number of days configured in the Dibs plan

Why is February 10, 2100 displayed at checkout?

The “Days after checkout” option calculates the shipping date dynamically based on the customer’s order date and the number of days configured in the Dibs plan. Since Shopify requires a fixed date in the selling plan, Dibs uses a placeholder date for this configuration. This date is automatically recalculated to the correct shipping date when the order is placed.

If Split shipping is enabled under Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery, Shopify may display the initial placeholder date configured by Dibs in the Shipping rates section at checkout.

How to Hide the Placeholder Shipping Date

Displaying a temporary placeholder date such as February 10, 2100 at checkout may be confusing for customers. We recommend replacing it with generic text using Shopify’s checkout language settings.

Follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout.

Step 2: Click Edit checkout content under Checkout language.

Step 3: Click the search field and enter “Ships”.

Step 4: In the Pre order ships date field, replace the existing content with generic text, such as: Ships later.

This will display “Ships later” instead of a placeholder date, such as February 10, 2100, in the Shipping method section at checkout.

How to Display the Dynamically Calculated Shipping Date at Checkout

Shopify does not expose the fulfillment date field to third-party apps for modification. As a result, Dibs cannot replace this field with the dynamically calculated shipping date at checkout.

Instead, Dibs allows you to display the dynamically calculated shipping date as a cart line item, which appears below the product title in the cart and checkout.

Here are the steps to enable it:

Step 1: In the Dibs Dashboard, click Customize → General Settings. Click Edit.

Step 2: Enable Cart & Checkout Information → Shipping information. Enter Ships on: {{shippingDate}}.

Once enabled, the dynamically calculated shipping date will be displayed with the cart and checkout under the product title.
